Given that PTIs are missioned with enabling parents to advocate for their own offspring with disabilities, PTIs may be able to conduct advocacy trainings to educate advocates to empower other families. It is crucial to better understand how advocates support families of children with disabilities. This study extends the literature by examining the advocacy process from the perspectives of parents of individuals with disabilities and their advocates. Furthermore, this study suggests that special education advocacy may facilitate positive child and family outcomes. More rigorous research is needed to examine the effect of advocacy on student achievement
